Daystar is looking for a full-time
Barista Associate to work in our Scratch Café.
Responsibilities include performing routine tasks by preparing, and serving specialty coffee, smoothies, and other beverages, including select food items.
Must be a Christian who believes and committed to the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Always present a friendly welcome to internal and external customers.
- Answer guest’s questions, efficiently check out guests and collect a form of payment for charges incurred, ensure purchased items are neatly wrapped.
- Currency must be handled accurately and efficiently.
- Brew coffee, prepare drinks (smoothies, specialty coffee) for customers
- Maintain and ensure the coffee area is stocked with all supplies, syrups, teas, coffee, sugars, etc.
- All areas of the Café must maintain cleanliness.
- Arranges prepared food on serving trays or in designated area for retrieval by serving staff.
- Prevents the spoilage of ingredients through proper storage in designated containers and in designated areas.
- Monitors the temperature of food and food storage areas.
- Maintains and cleans salad bars and buffets.
- Ensure tables are adequately cleaned.
- Maintain good attendance and positive interpersonal skills.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains cleanliness of work areas, surfaces, utensils, equipment, and dishes.
- Adheres to all food handling and safety regulations throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to follow safety rules and guidelines throughout the kitchen and restaurant.
- Take initiatives when there is less traffic in the Café.
Education and Experience
- Prior completion of food safety coursework and FDC-Food Handlers Certificate required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Must be able to work extra hours as needed and during Daystar events.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at a time.
