Are you looking for a rewarding role in a bustling NHS GP Practice? We are a friendly and busy practice located in Daybrook, Nottingham, and have a position available for 28 hours per week. Our practice operates Monday to Friday, with various shifts between 7:30 am and 6:30 pm. We offer flexible hours that can be discussed and negotiated to suit your and the practice needs.

Main Duties of the Job:

  • Communication & Multi-tasking: Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task are essential. You will need to remain calm under pressure and have good keyboard skills. While knowledge of SystmOne is beneficial, it is not essential as we provide comprehensive training.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside a team of enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary, and friendly staff. We value initiative, drive, and strong interpersonal, admin, and IT skills.
  • Patient-Facing & Administrative Tasks: You will handle a variety of tasks, so excellent organisational skills and time management are critical. A caring and empathetic character is essential to succeed in this role.
  • Flexibility: We require flexibility to cover for colleagues during holidays and sickness absences, with occasional evening and weekend work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Our Reception rota covers shifts from 7 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday, and you will also be expected to help cover flu/COVID vaccination clinics for a few weekends annually.
  • Care Navigation Role: As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in care navigation, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional. This involves understanding patient needs and efficiently coordinating their care journey.
  • Central Point of Contact: You will act as the central point of contact for patients, distributing information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team. This includes liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Person Specification:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics and English (C or above)
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
