About Day Out With The Kids
Day Out With The Kids is one of the UK's leading family days out platforms, helping millions of families discover, plan and book amazing things to do together.
We work with thousands of attractions and major consumer brands across the UK, generating revenue through attraction partnerships, advertising and promotional packages, memberships, ticketing and strategic commercial partnerships.
We're a small, ambitious team, which means everyone makes a visible impact.
We're now looking for a Head of Sales & Commercial to take ownership of our commercial performance and help drive the next stage of our growth.
The Role
This is a senior commercial role, but it is first and foremost a hands-on sales role.
You'll own commercial revenue across DOWTK, including:
- Attraction sales and commercial packages
- Strategic brand partnerships
- Ticketing partnerships and agreements
- Membership partnerships
- Affiliate and other commercial opportunities
You'll set the commercial direction, but you'll also be the person picking up the phone, opening doors, building proposals, running meetings, negotiating agreements and closing deals.
This is not a role where strategy gets handed to a large team to execute.
You'll work in a business of around 10 people, with a small commercial team reporting to you, so we're looking for someone who enjoys being close to the detail and making things happen.
What You’ll Be Responsible ForSales & New Business
- Personally generate and close new business across attractions, brands, ticketing and membership partnerships.
- Build and manage a healthy commercial pipeline.
- Proactively identify and approach new commercial opportunities.
- Run discovery calls, pitches, meetings and commercial negotiations.
- Create compelling proposals tailored to prospective partners.
- Develop relationships with senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Take ownership of opportunities from first contact through to signed agreement.
Commercial Strategy
- Own DOWTK's commercial revenue targets and performance.
- Develop and execute the commercial plan across sales, partnerships, ticketing and memberships.
- Identify new revenue opportunities and commercial models.
- Help shape pricing, packaging and commercial propositions.
- Understand where DOWTK can create the greatest value for attractions, brands and partners.
- Balance short-term revenue opportunities with longer-term strategic relationships.
Partnerships
- Build and grow relationships with attractions, tourism businesses and major consumer brands.
- Develop strategic partnerships that combine audience reach, content, marketing and transactions.
- Grow revenue from existing partners through renewals, upsells and additional opportunities.
- Work closely with partners to understand their objectives and create commercially valuable solutions.
Ticketing
- Grow the number and quality of attractions selling tickets through DOWTK.
- Negotiate commercially attractive ticketing agreements.
- Work with the wider team to identify opportunities to increase ticket sales and conversion.
- Develop relationships with attractions, suppliers and ticketing technology providers.
Memberships
- Develop commercial partnerships that increase the value and reach of DOWTK Membership.
- Identify opportunities with major brands, employee benefit platforms and loyalty programmes.
- Negotiate membership distribution and partnership agreements.
Commercial Management
- Manage and develop a small commercial team.
- Set clear targets, activity expectations and priorities.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting and reporting.
- Analyse commercial performance and use the data to identify opportunities.
- Work closely with marketing, product, content and ticketing to turn commercial ideas into successful campaigns and products.
What We’re Looking For
We're more interested in what you've achieved than your current job title.
You could currently be a:
- Senior Sales Manager
- Commercial Manager
- Senior Commercial Manager
- Head of Sales

- A strong track record of B2B sales and new business development.
- Experience personally owning and closing meaningful commercial deals.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial judgement.
- Confidence selling to senior decision-makers.
- Experience building proposals and presenting commercially compelling ideas.
- The ability to manage several different revenue streams and opportunities simultaneously.

- The ability to build long-term relationships as well as close short-term opportunities.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial approach.
Experience in attractions, travel, tourism, media, advertising, marketplaces, ecommerce, ticketing or memberships would be particularly relevant, but isn't essential.
The Person We’re Looking For
This role will suit someone who likes doing, not just directing.
You’ll enjoy:
- Winning new business.
- Picking up the phone and opening doors.
- Getting into the detail of a commercial opportunity.
- Building the proposal yourself when needed.
- Negotiating the deal.
- Following up relentlessly.
- Finding creative ways to get agreements over the line.
- Spotting an opportunity and acting on it quickly.
- Helping a small team perform at a higher level.
You don't need a huge team around you to be effective.
You'll be equally comfortable discussing commercial strategy with the CEO in the morning and personally pitching a prospective partner that afternoon.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role isn't measured by the number of strategies or presentations produced.
It's measured by results.
You'll be expected to:
- Grow overall commercial revenue.
- Consistently deliver against sales targets.
- Increase the number and value of attraction partnerships.
- Grow ticketing partnerships and ticket revenue.
- Develop valuable membership and strategic brand partnerships.
