University of the Arts London is seeking an experienced Lecturer to play a key role in leading a year group and developing the BA Performance: Design and Practice course at Central Saint Martins (CSM). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to and develop an interdisciplinary course that challenges established models of authorship and encourages experimental, collaborative performance practice. The course develops students’ technical and practical skills in design scenography, costume, dramaturgy, movement, and filmmaking, while supporting critical and innovative approaches to performance-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a year group and teach the BA Performance: Design and Practice course.
  • Advance curriculum development and ongoing scholarship on the course.
  • Contribute to the development of student projects, pedagogy and curriculum direction, helping to shape innovative and critical approaches that actively promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Ensure the curriculum remains informed by current research, practice and developments in performance making, and that it is embedded in teaching and learning.
  • Provide pastoral support to undergraduate students, monitoring their progress and attendance, maintaining appropriate records and liaising with colleagues as required.
  • Possibly contribute to tutorial or stage groups depending on programme needs and allocation of responsibility across the teaching team.

Qualifications

  • Inspiring creative practitioner with experience of leading student projects, teaching, curriculum development and assessment within higher education or equivalent professional practice.
  • Postgraduate qualification desirable, as is a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCert or Senior Fellowship of Advance HE.
  • Evidence of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and/or professional practice relevant to the principles and strategy of the Programme, College and University.
