University of the Arts London (UAL) is recruiting Facilities Assistants to be based at London College of Communication in Elephant and Castle. As part of the Estates Department, Facilities Assistants will deliver customer‑focused facilities support and premises services to ensure a secure, well‑maintained and friendly environment for staff, students and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily premises audits/inspections.
  • Carry out porterage duties and process/sort all incoming and outgoing deliveries.
  • Provide first‑line access control/security presence, ensuring safe access and egress for authorised personnel.
  • Meet and greet all visitors courteously and professionally, addressing inquiries and directing them to events.
  • Carry out First Aider duties; receive certified training and SIA licence training.
  • Support event operations and service operations across the multi‑story building.
  • Contribute to the improvement of service standards and maintain accurate knowledge of available services.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Estates operational staff and other teams.

Shift Pattern

  • Week 1: 07:00 – 15:00
  • Week 2: 07:00 – 15:00
  • Week 3: 14:30 – 22:30
  • Week 4: 14:30 – 22:30
  • Cycle includes 1 Saturday.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of working in a customer‑facing environment delivering services such as portering, security, goods delivery/distribution, event support, and service operations.
  • First‑aider certification and SIA accreditation are desirable.
  • Manual handling and ‘goods inward’ operations experience.
  • Competence in IT programmes such as MS Office, email and estate management systems.
  • Strong customer‑service orientation, professionalism, and teamwork skills.
