About the Role
Join Day Group as a Depot Operative (Telehandler Operator) at our Wellingborough depot and play a key role in supporting the safe handling, movement, and storage of materials across the site.
Working as part of our operations team, you’ll be responsible for operating a telehandler to move materials, support loading and unloading activities, maintain operational areas, and assist with general depot duties. You’ll help ensure materials are positioned safely and efficiently while supporting the overall productivity of the depot.
This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent awareness of your surroundings, and the ability to work effectively in a busy operational environment.
Person Specification
We are looking for a reliable and flexible individual with experience operating telehandlers or similar mobile plant equipment. You’ll be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to maintaining safety, housekeeping, and operational efficiency.
You should be willing to support wider depot activities and contribute wherever required to ensure the site operates effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a telehandler safely and efficiently
- Load, unload, and move materials around the depot
- Support material storage and stock management activities
- Carry out pre-use inspections and daily equipment checks
- Assist with depot processing operations and general site activities
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across operational areas
- Work alongside depot operatives and site management to support daily operations
- Follow company health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
- Report equipment defects, hazards, and operational concerns promptly
- Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the depot
Skills and Experience
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- Good awareness of health and safety responsibilities
- Experience operating a telehandler or similar mobile plant
- Positive and flexible approach to work
- Experience within the aggregates, recycling, waste management, construction, or industrial sectors
- Experience working within a depot environment
- Material handling and loading experience
- Basic mechanical awareness and fault reporting knowledge
