Are you an experienced Field Service Engineer, Mobile Mechanic, Plant Fitter, Forklift Engineer, or HGV Technician looking for a role with more freedom, variety, and long‑term opportunity? Our Mobile Engineer role within Dawsongroup EMC could be exactly what you have been looking for, supporting customers across Bristol and the South West while working on specialist municipal and civil equipment that keeps essential services running every day.

This is a field‑based engineering role covering Bristol and the wider South West region, ideally suited to candidates living in or around Bristol. You will work independently across a defined regional patch, carrying out diagnostics, repairs, servicing, and inspections on a wide range of specialist vehicles and equipment while delivering the high standards our customers rely on.

  • Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair Dawsongroup EMC assets and specialist utility equipment
  • Work on a range of municipal and civil equipment including sweepers, RCVs, tankers, tippers, grabs, forklifts, MHE equipment, and specialist vehicles
  • Attend breakdowns and service calls efficiently to minimise downtime for customers
  • Complete PMI inspections and maintain accurate electronic work records using PDA systems
  • Manage your own daily schedule, workload, and stock levels on your company vehicle

About You: You could already be working as a Mobile Engineer, Plant Fitter, Forklift Engineer, HGV Technician, Agricultural Engineer, or Service Engineer, or perhaps you have transferable experience from another heavy equipment environment. What matters most is your attitude, problem‑solving mindset, and pride in delivering quality work safely and professionally. We know that great engineers come from a variety of backgrounds, so if you do not meet every requirement listed, we would still encourage you to apply.

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in Plant, HGV, Mechanical Engineering, or similar is essential
  • Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Comfortable diagnosing diesel engines and electrical faults
  • Able to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively
  • Full driving licence required, with Class 2 HGV licence beneficial but not essential
