The Vacancy

About this Role

Are you a Customer Service Executive looking for your next opportunity in the truck and trailer industry, or do you have experience in customer service, fleet operations or transport administration? Dawsongroup Truck and Trailer is looking for someone who can combine excellent customer service with practical fleet coordination to keep vehicles ready for hire and customers moving.

  • Inspect trucks and trailers on check-in and check-out, recording damage accurately and ensuring vehicles meet required safety, legal and presentation standards.
  • Coordinate servicing, MOT tests, planned maintenance and repairs, working with internal teams and external repair agents to minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Communicate with customers about damage, maintenance requirements and vehicle availability, handling recharges professionally and diplomatically.
  • Manage rental agreements, customer invoicing, driver records and tachograph compliance, maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Organise vehicle deliveries and collections, prioritise pre-booked vehicles and maintain appropriate stocks of frequently used spares.

About You

You'll be organised, customer-focused and comfortable balancing administration with practical, hands-on fleet responsibilities. You will need a full, valid UK driving licence, but you do not need to tick every box to be considered.

  • Experience in customer service or a similar environment, with the confidence to handle enquiries and resolve issues professionally.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, alongside confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A methodical approach to inspections, record keeping and coordinating competing priorities.
  • The ability to carry out routine cleaning and maintenance and inspect trucks and trailers as required.
  • Knowledge of asset rental, transport or distribution would be advantageous, but transferable skills and the willingness to learn are equally welcome.

About Us

Dawsongroup has been operating as a family business since 1935 and has more than 50 years of experience in asset rental. We work to solve customers' challenges through well-maintained assets, dependable service and a commitment to doing things properly.

  • Join Dawsongroup Truck and Trailer, an established business unit serving customers across the transport sector.
  • Be part of a team focused on customer relationships, operational efficiency and high standards.
  • Work within a business that values integrity, safety, legal compliance and continuous improvement.

Dawsongroup is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.

About Your Future

This role offers the opportunity to build your knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle maintenance coordination and customer account administration. With a focus on developing our people, Dawsongroup offers opportunities to learn, grow and explore future career pathways.

  • Access funded training and internal progression opportunities, both nationally and worldwide.
  • Benefit from 2x Life assurance, wellbeing and mental health support, and seasonal gifts.
  • Enjoy 24 days leave plus your birthday plus bank holidays and up to 10 days extra (time served and purchase scheme).
  • Make use of our Cycle to Work scheme and long-term incentives.

Ready to put your customer service skills to work in a business that values people as much as its assets? Join Dawsongroup Truck and Trailer and help keep our customers moving. Our people are our greatest asset, and we would love to hear from you.
