Dawson Jones Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Surveyor to join an established housing and property organisation in Devon. This is a varied property surveying position covering building maintenance, repairs, refurbishment and void properties, with responsibility for inspecting properties, identifying required works and overseeing delivery through to completion.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out building and property surveys and inspections
- Diagnosing building defects and identifying appropriate remedial works
- Preparing reports, specifications and cost estimates
- Overseeing repair, maintenance and refurbishment work
- Surveying properties and identifying works required before they are ready for occupation
- Managing contractors and monitoring the quality, cost and progress of works
- Carrying out post-inspections and ensuring works have been completed to the required standard
- Providing technical advice on building and maintenance issues
- Ensuring works comply with relevant Building Regulations, CDM and Health & Safety requirements
- Managing your own workload and ensuring works are delivered within agreed timescales and budgets
What we're looking for:
- Good building surveying and inspection experience
- Knowledge of building repairs, maintenance and refurbishment
- Experience overseeing contractors and works on site
- The ability to identify defects and recommend practical solutions
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of costs
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety and building legislation
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities
- A relevant technical qualification such as an HNC or above in Building, Surveying or a related field or equivalent relevant experience
