A well established, values led organisation in Bradford is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to support financial reporting, budgeting and financial insight within an education focused environment. Working closely with senior finance leadership, this role will play a key part in ensuring leaders and governing bodies are supported with accurate, timely and meaningful financial information to enable effective decision making and continuous improvement. This opportunity will suit a Management Accountant with experience in education or the wider public sector who is looking for a broad, visible role with real impact.
The Role
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and clear commentary
- Supporting annual budgets, forecasts and longer term financial planning
- Providing financial insight and support to senior leaders and budget holders
- Balance sheet control including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Payroll reconciliation and cash flow forecasting
- Supporting VAT returns and ensuring income and expenditure are recorded in line with education compliance requirements
- Monitoring financial performance and highlighting risks and opportunities
- Supporting compliance with statutory, regulatory and audit requirements relevant to education settings
- Assisting with year end accounts and audit preparation
- Supporting and assisting the supervision and development of finance staff
- Contributing to improvements in financial systems, processes and reporting
Experience Required
- Qualified, part qualified or working towards a professional accountancy qualification, with relevant management accounting experience
- Proven experience in management accounting within education or public sector environments
- Strong understanding of education financial compliance requirements is desirable
- Confident producing and explaining management accounts to non finance stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Organised, calm under pressure and able to manage competing deadlines
- Motivated by working in a values led environment focused on improving outcomes for young people
