We are seeking a motivated and driven Assistant Slaughter Hall Manager to join our team. We want someone eager to develop their career in production management, with the ability to support the Manager while taking ownership of key responsibilities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to step into a leadership position. Reporting to the Slaughter Hall Manager, you will assist with day-to-day running of the Slaughter Hall and Lairage.
Responsibilities
- Daily Operations: Oversee staffing, organisation, and the smooth running of the Slaughter Hall and Lairage to deliver the production plan efficiently.
- Performance Excellence: Maximise yields, minimise waste and downtime, and ensure targets are consistently achieved with an understanding of financial implications.
- Animal Welfare: Take responsibility for welfare standards, liaising closely with the official veterinarian and meat inspection team.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure strict adherence to company policies, food safety technical standards, health and safety standards and regulatory/customer requirements.
- Quality Leadership: Drive quality through people, processes, and systems, ensuring specifications and cost standards are met or exceeded.
- Team Leadership: Inspire, lead, and develop your team to deliver results with accountability across all areas of the department.
Qualifications
- Abattoir experience across ALL jobs/roles for beef and lamb.
- Have good planning, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a team player and willing to work within and across functional departments.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Food Hygiene qualification.
