Join our exciting new Coventry project! The Ofsted application has been submitted in March 2026, and the homes are ready for inspection, including a skeleton team of staff in situ. Dawlish Care Services LTD are planning to open a multi-site children home in Coventry. Atherston House, a 2-bed children residential home Wainbody and Dawlish House, a 3-bed home in Stivichal are specialising in children age 8-17 (any gender) living with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). As we prepare to embark on this new adventure, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead the service from the ground up - contributing to the design of the home and the service, recruiting and shaping the team, forging partnerships with the commissioners.
About You
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Children's Manager to oversee the delivery of high-quality care within our new specialised care environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring compliance with care standards, and fostering a safe, nurturing atmosphere for children with diverse needs. This role requires strong leadership skills, a compassionate approach, and a comprehensive understanding of child care and health services. The Registered Children's Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining excellent standards of care, supporting families, and ensuring the well-being of all children under our supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of care staff, ensuring the delivery of personalised and compassionate care to children.
- Develop, implement, and review individualised care plans tailored to each child's specific needs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection, safeguarding, and health & safety.
- Oversee medication administration in accordance with prescribed protocols and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies to support children's health and development needs.
- Monitor the quality of care provided, conducting regular audits and assessments to uphold high standards.
- Manage staffing rotas, organise training sessions, and promote continuous professional development within the team.
- Handle administrative duties related to care documentation whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Foster an inclusive environment that promotes dignity, respect, and independence for children with diverse backgrounds and needs.
Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years experience in managing a children’s residential setting.
- In depth knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulation 2025, Quality Standards, Safeguarding procedures, Ofsted Inspection frameworks.
- Experience working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma or complex needs.
- Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
- Excellent organisational skills with experience in developing and managing care plans.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to delivering person-centred care tailored to individual needs.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
