Daikin Applied is seeking a S enior Product Development Engineer III who will lead the development of one or more primary systems or sub-systems on commercial HVAC equipment. Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!
Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MN
What you will do:
- Leading the technical development of HVAC equipment using engineering fundamentals such as heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanical analysis. Partner with the engineering team to learn and contribute to the design of the following subsystems:
- vapor compression refrigeration systems
- fans, motors, mechanical drives, and variable speed technologies
- pumps and fluid flow control devices
- heat exchanger design and selection
- cabinetry/structural systems: FEA, shipping and vibration, accelerated life testing, seismic and wind loading
- unit controls design and validation: sequence of operation, control algorithms, and associated control devices
- Leading laboratory testing and validation of HVAC systems. Collaborate on cross-functional teams to test our equipment in our state-of-the-art laboratories. Lead the testing of the operation and function of commercial chillers
- Provide technical leadership to bring design concepts to production solutions
- Lead and mentor junior engineering team members
- Lead CAD designers to execute product designs
- Develop advanced simulation techniques and perform FEA and CFD analysis of design concepts
- Coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to transform engineering designs into production equipment

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-year degree in engineering or related technical field and a minimum of 7 years of experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $87 ,800 – $143 ,100 (+ bonus) in Minnesota . The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
