Position overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Litigation Assistant to support our litigation team. The ideal candidate will assist with case preparation, document management, court filings, and trial preparation as well as attending court hearings. This is an excellent opportunity to build experience in a dynamic and fast-paced legal environment with the prospect of qualifying as a solicitor.

What you’ll do

When you join the team with Davisons Law as a Litigation Assistant, you will be involved in general civil litigation and high value complex commercial litigation cases which will include matters of company and commercial law, property disputes, inheritance disputes, contractual disputes and housing law, employment, minority shareholder’s dispute, contentious insolvency, regulatory affairs, construction disputes and professional negligence. This role involves a mix of administrative and legal tasks related to the Litigation department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all phases of the litigation process and trial preparation.
  • Draft and organise legal documents such as pleadings, correspondence, and disclosure responses.
  • Manage and maintain case files (electronic and hard copy including deadlines, limitation periods and key dates).
  • Conduct factual and legal research under solicitor’s supervision.
  • Co-ordinate document production and assist with e-discovery/disclosure review.
  • File documents with the court (both electronically and manually).
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to the Litigation Solicitor/s to ensure the efficient running of caseloads.
  • Draft and prepare correspondence and legal documents using the firm\’s case management system.
  • Liaise professionally with clients in person and via telephone, ensuring high levels of client care.
  • Maintain and manage an organised filing system, including daily filing, as well as the opening, closing, storage, and retrieval of client files.
  • Prepare and dispatch outgoing mail and enclosures in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Co-ordinate the scanning, photocopying, and general document handling as required.
  • Handle general administrative tasks, including answering and making telephone calls and managing routine inquiries.
  • Assist with the drafting, issuing, and follow-up of client bills and fee-related documentation.
