Under the general supervision of the Principal or other supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during teacher preparation periods. Prepares lesson plans and required classroom materials and provides instruction in specialized subject matter areas, such as music, art, science, computer operations, media centre usage, physical education, languages, and health.

Classified position is announced to all qualified applicants. Applications must be submitted no later than Monday, May 18, 2026. 3.15 hours per day / 174 days per year / Salary Grade 6 $19.60 per hour (2025‑26 Support Salary Table). Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase. NOTE: THIS POSITION IS FOR THE UPCOMING 2026‑27 SCHOOL YEAR. HOURS ARE APPROXIMATE.

General function: Under the general supervision of the Principal or other supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during teacher preparation periods, prepares lesson plans and required classroom materials, and provides instruction in specialized subject matter areas such as music, art, science, computer operations, media centre usage, physical education, and languages.

Educational Requirements: High school graduation or equivalent education and/or experience. Formal education or training in area of specialization preferred. The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full‑time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para‑Professional Test, which will be required at a later date.

Knowledge & Ability: Knowledge of subject matter areas associated with assigned courses. Strong interpersonal skills required for interaction with students, teachers, and other school personnel. Ability to effectively teach assigned course subjects.

Job-Related Experience: None required. Experience working with children preferred.
