We have some exciting business development opportunities in our London office supporting our growing European practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their career in business development and become a valued member of the team. You will be in a partner-facing role with a varied scope, covering all aspects of business development, marketing and events within the practice group that you will be supporting. We are looking for someone who is proactive, enjoys working in a collaborative and integrated environment, and is comfortable taking ownership of their workstreams with the support of an established business development team. Experience working in business development (or similar) in a law firm environment is highly desirable. We look forward to hearing from you.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain client tracking and targeting databases, and identify opportunities for further client engagement.
  • Coordinate with our NY restructuring business development team (and other teams as needed) to align on practice and firm client priorities.
  • Plan and run client-development events, manage event logistics and analyse data resulting from such events.
  • Assist with preparing pitches, RFIs and RFPs including research, coordinating collateral and assembling materials.
  • Create and maintain practice-specific marketing materials, including placemats, practice descriptions, lawyer biographies, and brochures.
  • Participate in keeping databases and credentials lists current for European business development.
  • Prepare draft submissions for various legal directories, awards and related industry guides, and manage submission process and annual schedule.
  • Support and attend practice group meetings, develop agendas, document key takeaways, and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Conduct research to develop intelligence on existing and prospective clients, connections, competitor activity, and industry/market trends.
  • Assist with identifying speaking and sponsorship opportunities, coordinate and provide supporting materials for such opportunities and manage local relationships with conference organisers.
  • Support special projects such as overseas business development trips and events in our offices and other global locations.
  • Coordinate with New York business development teams in applying brand standards, using firm templates, preparing files for print productions, and performing press checks.
  • Work closely with the business development teams in New York to provide seamless business development support to the European practice.

Qualifications/Position Requirements

  • Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive, persistent, robust, commitment to ‘getting the job done’.
  • Excellent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other applications (including Interaction) as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with lawyers and staff, demonstrating strong teamwork and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all the Firm’s and clients documentation and information.
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility to meet the demands of the position.

Education and/or Experience

  • Related experience in business development and marketing (law firm background preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree.
