Davis Mills has been instructed to resource an experienced Mechanical Estimator for an established M&E contractor who is going through a period of rapid expansion. They are fully committed to new technology through investment in research, development and improving processes for production and efficiency. Their goal is to be the first point of contact for any customer on any construction project, from initial design all the way through to project completion. They are keen to recruit a talented Estimator to be at their head office in Kent, tendering projects up to £5m in value.

The Estimators will be involved in the preparation and tender return of quantified tenders from specifications and drawings or bill of quantities, prequalification questionnaires and also pre-tender meetings, as well as internal handover meetings.

Estimator's key duties:

  • Prepare annotated computerised schedules and Bills of Quantities from clients' specifications and drawings
  • Prepare and price tenders from either clients or own prepared Bill of Quantities
  • Prepare and send out material enquiries
  • Analysis of suppliers' quotations
  • To liaise with Clients/Suppliers as required during the tender process

The Estimator will be expected to liaise with the site team during the preparation of the handover and distribution of tender documents on secured projects.

Estimator's key attributes:

  • Good understanding of Excel
  • Experience of tendering mechanical building services' packages and worked in a subcontracting type environment
  • Capable of preparing BoQ's from specifications and drawings
