Keoghs LLP is one of the leading insurance law firms in the UK, recognized as a dynamic player in its sector. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a talented insurance lawyer within the Property Risks & Coverage Team. The role is based in our Bristol office, with flexible working arrangements encouraged for the right candidate.

The Recoveries sub-specialist team works across multiple offices, primarily Bolton and Bristol. The SCT team collaborates across locations, so geographic location is flexible for this role. This is a Claimant role. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of Household and Commercial Property recovery files, typically valued up to £25K, covering various perils from well-known insurers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initial review and reporting—assessing funding, recovery prospects, and claim triage
  • Reviewing evidence
  • Conducting investigations and establishing causes of action
  • Instructing counsel and experts
  • Legal research
  • Drafting documents such as letters of claim, claim forms, and particulars to initiate proceedings
  • Attending conferences and trials with counsel
  • Managing routine correspondence
  • Liaising with clients and insurers
  • Negotiating settlements, including drafting Part 36 offers
  • Preparing pre-action and interim applications
  • Preparing trial documentation
  • Assisting with ADR processes, including mediation
  • Participating in court appointments
  • Conducting advocacy via telephone and in person
  • Ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations

Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch. The primary location is Bolton, Parklands Office, with attendance required 2 days per week.
