Description

We are looking for ambitious, driven candidates to join a dynamic and collaborative division and take the next step in their legal career. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigated File Handler. Our counter-fraud team, the largest and longest-established in the UK, is approachable and focused on delivering legal excellence. We pride ourselves on our reputation for fighting dishonest motor claims and developing strategies to identify and prevent emerging risks. The NDA File Handler will work within a team of fraud specialists and legal support staff, managing a caseload of suspected fraud files related to RTA claims involving various injuries, including tinnitus, hearing loss, psychological injuries, and chronic pain.

The successful candidate should have a good understanding of these injury types, medical treatments, and the requirements for expert medical evidence. They should be prepared to review medical literature and challenge medical experts through detailed questioning in line with CPR35. Engagement with medical regulators may also be involved.

This role requires close collaboration with the Lead Lawyer to achieve optimal results in a commercially sound manner. It demands both adherence to defined processes and a forensic, analytical approach to evidence. Commercial awareness and decision-making skills within set timeframes are essential, always aligning with case strategy and client interests.

The NDA File Handler will utilize strategic foresight to ensure all litigation opportunities are maximized, shaping the future of the counter-fraud arena. The caseload will consist of suspected fraudulent insurance claims.

Key Responsibilities

The NDA File Handler is responsible for managing fraud cases from instruction to resolution, including:

  • Strategic Excellence
  • Review and analyze evidence throughout the case
  • Set and agree on case strategies with clients, following guidelines from Lead Lawyers and Technical Leads
  • Follow all process stages diligently
  • Identify litigation opportunities and complex cases
  • Recognize client trends and opportunities to enhance client relationships

  • Handle files according to client guidelines on a non-delegated basis
  • Maximize client satisfaction and ensure timely MI reporting
  • Meet KPIs for both client and internal standards
  • Technical Excellence
  • Report to insurers throughout the claim process
  • Coordinate investigations and meet deadlines
  • Achieve favorable litigation results, safeguarding client interests, and utilize procedural tactics effectively
  • Engage in advocacy when appropriate and cost-effective
  • Delegate tasks as needed and maintain accurate case management records
  • Comply with all relevant regulations including SRA Standards & Regulations

Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with an unpaid lunch break. The primary location is Bolton, Parklands Office, with a flexible attendance policy requiring at least one day in the office weekly.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Experience in civil litigation claims handling or as a qualified legal professional (ILEX, LPC, etc.)
  • Experience with linked and organized fraud is desirable but not essential
  • Handling RTA pre-litigated and litigated caseloads
  • Understanding of insurance litigation practices and principles
  • Knowledge of litigation process and CPR
  • Strong advocacy, client care, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
  • Experience with time recording and billing systems
  • Excellent IT skills
