We are seeking a Small Claims Handler to manage a portfolio of litigated small claims track files under supervision. This role involves handling quantum and liability cases efficiently, using effective negotiation techniques to settle claims appropriately.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage a caseload of Small Claims Track cases, ensuring court deadlines are met through effective planning.
- Achieve performance targets and maintain quality standards.
- Analyze evidence to develop case strategies on liability and quantum.
- Communicate with clients, defendants, insurers, and solicitors to negotiate settlements.
- Prepare witnesses, assess evidence, and draft statements.
- Draft court documents and meet all court deadlines.
- Instruct and liaise with Counsel.
- Guide defendants through litigation and set expectations.
- Maintain case management and billing records accurately.
- Delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
- Handle correspondence and calls within service level agreements.
- Update reports with new evidence.
- Adhere to client guidelines and ISO 9001 standards.
- Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.
Working Hours
35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. The primary location is The Parklands, Bolton, with a hybrid working model (1 day in-office, 4 days remote).
