Description
Are you ready to advance your legal career? We are seeking an experienced Small Claims Motor Claims Handler to independently manage a portfolio of litigated, quantum-disputed Fast Track files.
This position is ideal for someone with Small Claims litigation experience looking to handle fast track claims. The Motor Claims Handler will manage cases efficiently, using effective telephone negotiation techniques to achieve appropriate settlements. It offers an excellent opportunity to expand litigated file handling experience beyond the Small Claims Track into personal injury work.

Key Accountabilities
- Manage a caseload of Fast Track quantum cases independently, ensuring court deadlines are met through effective planning and organization
- Achieve performance targets and maintain quality standards
- Analyze evidence to develop case strategies on quantum
- Conduct telephone negotiations with clients, defendants, insurers, and solicitors to settle cases efficiently and appropriately
- Draft court documents and meet all court deadlines
- Instruct, brief, and liaise with Counsel
- Participate in court telephone hearings to maximize progress and bring cases to settlement
- Guide defendants through litigation and set appropriate expectations
- Maintain accurate case management and billing records to support decision-making
- Delegate tasks to team members when appropriate
- Handle correspondence and calls within service level agreements
- Update reports with new evidence and case activity
- Adhere to client guidelines and ISO 9001 standards
- Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location is Bolton, Parklands Office, working 1 day in the office and 4 days remotely.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Experience managing litigated claims, either as defendant or claimant
- Knowledge of case law, litigation practice, court procedures
- Strong planning and prioritization skills
- Efficient in process-driven environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Sensitivity and tact in communication
- Teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Office
- Minimum 5 GCSEs grade C/5 or equivalent, including maths and English
Preferred qualifications include further legal education, law practice or insurer experience, and knowledge of highway code and road traffic laws.
