We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Lawyer / Solicitor to join our specialist crime and regulatory team in Leeds. Working closely with Partner David Chant, you’ll play a key role in handling complex health & safety, and serious motor matters—often from the very outset of an incident through to resolution. This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys both technical legal work and client interaction, and who is passionate about delivering high-quality legal solutions while building strong, trusted client relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this varied and hands-on role, you will:
- Analyse prosecution evidence and assess its implications for clients
- Draft witness statements and review client evidence
- Collate, organise, and summarise case materials for senior lawyers
- Liaise with courts, coroners, regulators (HSE, CQC, Police) and external experts
- Prepare and serve defence case statements, sentencing and mitigation bundles
- Draft submissions and support case strategy development
- Attend interviews under caution, inquests, and trials alongside Counsel
- Conduct legal and regulatory research (including HSE guidelines)
- Review medical records, post-mortem reports, transcripts and CCTV evidence
- Coordinate meetings, site visits, and expert appointments
- Support clients sensitively in often challenging and high-pressure situations
What we're looking for:
- A qualified Solicitor with NQ – 4 years PQE in ideally one or more of the following specialisms: Health & Safety, Regulatory, Inquests, Traffic Commissioner, Serious Motor
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Detail-focused and confident working with case management systems
- A strong communicator, able to build rapport with clients and stakeholders at all levels
- Calm, resilient and professional under pressure
- A collaborative team player with a proactive, flexible approach
- Sensitive and empathetic in dealing with clients facing difficult circumstances
- Confident in your written work, research, and IT skills
