To support the Compliance Director and the wider Compliance team in the day-to-day delivery of Asta's compliance agenda, providing hands‑on assistance and advice across all three compliance pillars (Framework, Monitoring & Assurance; Regulatory Affairs & Conduct; Financial Crime & Sanctions). The role is collaborative, with no direct reports, and is focused on enabling, supporting, and enhancing the effectiveness of all team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as deputy to the Compliance Director in delivering the compliance plan, including monitoring, reporting, and supporting key compliance activities.
- Provide practical support and advice to all members of the Compliance team, assisting with queries and tasks across all three pillars (including Sanctions, TOBAs, Broker Remuneration, Conduct Risk, and Complaints) emanating from clients.
- Review and analyse regulatory changes, producing clear updates and reports for Asta staff and clients as directed by the Compliance Director.
- Assist in the review and development of compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practice.
- Contribute to internal and client compliance meetings, offering advice and supporting effective decision‑making.
- Support the Financial Crime Manager with sanctions advice and guidance to managed clients, ensuring high‑quality and timely responses.
- Assist with onboarding of new clients and migration of existing clients, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- Review risk controls on a periodic basis to identify and address issues ahead of reporting cycles.
- Respond to internal and syndicate queries relating to annual capacity, auctions, and data protection, ensuring accurate and timely advice.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong technical knowledge of UK insurance regulation and experience working within a Lloyd's managing agent.
- Experience of applying regulatory knowledge within an insurance business.
- Experience in handling complex Sanctions matters.
- Complaints/Conduct Risk experience advantageous.
- Degree level education preferable and ACII qualified or working towards this.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
