London (Liverpool Street) | Hybrid (2 days office / 3 days remote)65,000 β 80,000 + BenefitsOur professional services client is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to join its leadership team overseeing a broad remit that offers significantly more exposure than a typical Financial Controller position. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in financial leadership, business planning, and strategic decision-making.
This opportunity would suit a qualified accountant looking to step beyond technical finance responsibilities and gain exposure to board-level activity and business operations. The OpportunityYou will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, manage a team of two, and you will ensure robust financial control across our client's multiple business units and two legal entities.
Responsibilities will include: Leading the month-end and year-end close processesProducing statutory accounts and managing the annual auditManaging cash flow forecasting and liquidity planningDelivering high-quality management information and board reportingMaintaining strong financial controls and audit readinessOverseeing corporation tax, VAT and wider compliance mattersBuilding and developing forecasting, budgeting and scenario modelsSupporting strategic decision-making through financial analysisManaging and developing two Finance AssistantsDriving process improvement, automation and finance systems enhancementWorking with senior stakeholders across the business on operational and commercial initiativesSupporting shareholder and executive-level reporting requirementsAbout YouWe are interested in speaking with qualified accountants who combine strong technical foundations with commercial curiosity and a proactive mindset, ideally possessing the following: ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualificationAt least 4 years' post-qualified experiencePrevious experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager or equivalentStrong financial reporting, control and audit experienceExcellent Excel and financial modelling capabilitiesExperience producing management accounts and board reportingStrong stakeholder management and communication skillsA process improvement and automation mindsetThe ability to operate effectively within a lean, fast-moving environmentExperience of finance systems implementation, FP&A, cash flow modelling or professional services environments would be advantageous.
