About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Field Engineer with a strong background in motor engineering and claims. This role requires expertise in vehicle inspection, repair cost negotiation, and claims management, supporting both customers and internal teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes. You will play a key role in assessing vehicle damage, providing valuations, and managing total loss settlements across a wide variety of vehicle types.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate, detailed, and high‑quality engineering reports
- Assess, value, and negotiate vehicle repair costs
- Provide fair and accurate vehicle valuations
- Negotiate total loss settlements
- Apply detailed knowledge of salvage categories
- Manage claims through to resolution
- Liaise with repairers, customers, and internal teams
- Support colleagues and contribute to team success
Knowledge and Abilities
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Qualified to IAEA or ATA (VDA) standard
- Experience within insurer or independent engineering environment
- Strong understanding of claims processes and salvage categorisation
- Experience using estimating systems (e.g. Audatex, GT Motive, Glass’s)
- Ability to inspect a wide range of vehicles including:
- Cars
- HGVs
- Agricultural machinery
- Caravans
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills

- AQP qualification
