We are looking for a Trainee IP Legal Assistant to train under the supervision of our IP Professional Support Manager. This is a great opportunity to advance your career by working alongside talented individuals of all levels, including Senior Fee Earners. The successful candidate will be trained in all aspects of patents and trademarking and will have a clear career development route to becoming an IP Legal Assistant in 6‐9 months from joining.
The Role
- Support Fee Earners in IP management
- Handle and coordinate filing of multiple applications
- Use various technologies such as case management systems, patent specific platforms and the MS Office suite
- Produce correspondence to clients, agents and patent/trademark offices
- Produce draft applications/specifications
- Manage your Fee Earner's diary and reminder systems
- Maintain case and client files within the Document Management System
- Compile official forms
- Manage own and Fee Earner work in progress, manage and check invoicing
- Document key processes and keep documented processes current
- Support and input into project work
- Assist in monitoring and managing email inboxes
- Prepare cost estimates, forecasts and client portfolio reports
- Handle enquiries from clients and foreign agents
About You
- 12 to 18 months experience working in a similar role in a professional services firm
- Some exposure to IP Law
- Good level of education, including law focused studies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Good typing speed
- Organised with good interpersonal skills
- Team working
The Package
- £26,000 starting salary and full training
- 20 days annual holiday, increasing annually to 25 days
- Flex scheme allowing for an additional 8 days leave per year
- Flexible working with 2 days from home, kicking in after 8 weeks after suitable training completed
