Remote (UK‑based) with occasional travel to London. We are supporting a growing research and consultancy organisation in the life sciences sector in the appointment of an experienced Compliance Manager on a 14‑month fixed‑term contract. This is a remote‑first role, offering flexibility, with occasional travel required to the London office.

This role plays a key part in ensuring the organisation maintains high standards of regulatory, data protection and information security compliance while continuing to grow.

The Role

As Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for designing, embedding and managing compliance frameworks across the business, with a strong focus on data protection and information security. You will act as a key internal advisor, working closely with both internal stakeholders and external partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining compliance programmes, with a strong emphasis on data protection
  • Acting as the internal subject‑matter expert for data management, including guidance on personal data handling and informed consent processes
  • Working with external IT security consultants, Data Protection Officers and IT service providers to support due diligence requests and audits
  • Documenting business processes and procedures and creating clear compliance roadmaps
  • Supporting continuous process improvement across the organisation
  • Ensuring staff adherence to data protection and information security requirements
  • Conducting internal audits, risk assessments and monitoring remediation actions
  • Leading compliance training initiatives
  • Managing supplier onboarding, due diligence and annual compliance checks
  • Performing regular monthly and quarterly compliance checks against control measures
  • Updating and maintaining company policies and procedures
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and implementing new or updated legal and regulatory requirements

About You

You will be a proactive and detail‑focused compliance professional who is comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

You will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR
  • Experience leading or supporting a small to medium‑sized organisation through ISO 27001 accreditation, working alongside external advisors
  • Proven experience developing and managing compliance programmes
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Travel: Occasional travel to the London office required.
