Location: Liverpool hybrid working 1 day per week in the office (although we would also be open to our other office locations, particularly Birmingham)

Professional Indemnity Team at Keoghs

The Construction arm of our Professional Indemnity team in Liverpool is looking to recruit a 4+ years pqe Associate. The team has an excellent reputation and is ranked highly in the Legal Directories:

The successful individual will work closely with the partners in the team on high value and multi-party construction disputes, as well as running smaller value construction claims themselves. They may also assist with advising on policy coverage and defending construction professionals in disciplinary actions before their professional bodies.

The team acts for all types of construction professionals, including Architects, Consulting Engineers (Structural, Civil, Geotechnical, Building Services, Façade, Fire etc), Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Approved Inspectors, Registered Building Control Approvers, Project Managers and D&B Contractors.

There are excellent opportunities for professional development, client interaction & secondments with insurers as well as developing on to deal with their own high value, complex claims over time.

Key Responsibilities

The role:

The successful lawyer will work closely with the existing members of the Professional Indemnity team and will be accountable for the following:

• Reviewing documents and preparing reports
• Handling your own smaller matters
• Liaising with the Insured and Insurers
• Dealing with disclosure
• Reviewing evidence
• Conducting investigations
• Instructing Counsel/Experts
• Research
• Drafting generally
• Attending conferences and trials/ disciplinary hearings with Counsel
• Dealing with routine correspondence
• Court appointments
• Ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct and relevant Service Standards
• Taking part in seminars/ training for insurer clients

Essential:

• Previous defendant insurance, professional indemnity and construction litigation experience
