We are delighted to offer an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Assistant Head Sommelier to join the team at this luxurious five-star hotel in breathtaking North Wales. The Role: As Assistant Head Sommelier, you will work closely with the Head Sommelier to deliver an exceptional wine service across the hotel's fine dining restaurant and bars. You will assist in developing the wine program, managing the cellar, training the team, and ensuring guests enjoy a memorable and tailored experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Sommelier in overseeing the wine program, list development, and pairings
- Provide knowledgeable, warm, and professional wine service to guests
- Assist in training and developing the front-of-house team in wine knowledge and service standards
- Maintain cellar organization, stock control, and supplier relationships
- Contribute to the restaurant's Michelin-level ambitions by elevating wine and beverage standards
About You:
- Previous experience in a sommelier or senior wine service role, ideally within a fine dining or luxury setting
- WSET Level 3 or equivalent qualification (or working towards)
- Passion for wine, with an excellent understanding of regions, producers, and food pairings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised, detail-focused, and eager to develop and mentor others
- A positive, hands-on approach and ambition to help achieve Michelin recognition
