37 hours per week, 52 week year round contract, full time and permanent role. This is a key role within a DRET Academy to ensure a safe and legal environment for students, staff, and visitors. The post holder will be primarily responsible for site management, contractor control, statutory testing, health & safety management, building maintenance, security, and asset management. The role works closely with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team to maintain a well‑maintained learning environment and may involve travel to other DRET schools.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that buildings and the site are secure, including during out of Academy hours.
- Act as the designated key holder for the Academy premises.
- Operate and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting, security (including CCTV and alarms).
- Undertake minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings and site.
- Arrange emergency repairs and regular maintenance checks.
- Oversee onsite maintenance contractors, checking that work is completed to required standards and within required timescales.
- Work in accordance with safeguarding, child protection, health, safety and security, equal opportunities, confidentiality and data protection policies.
Qualifications
- Good numeracy, literacy and written and verbal communication skills.
- A willingness to undertake training, both self‑nominated and prescribed by the Trust.
- Physical ability to lift, carry and push equipment.
- Competent IT skills including e‑mail, Microsoft/Google document suites, and web‑based management systems.
- Good planning and negotiating skills.
- Flexibility to work as part of a team or independently.
- Ability to comply with Health and Safety regulations to ensure duties are carried out safely.
- Experience or skills in maintenance duties.
- Knowledge of regulations such as health & safety, manual handling, COSHH, Legionella, etc.
- Ability to operate electrical and mechanical systems.
- Competence in basic building repairs and maintenance.
