Responsibilities
- Deliver the curriculum relevant to the age and ability group or subject(s) you teach.
- Prepare and develop teaching materials, programmes and pastoral arrangements.
- Ensure students achieve well relative to their prior attainment and make progress as good as or better than similar students nationally and within the Academy.
- Be aware of pupils' prior knowledge, plan teaching and scaffold appropriately to build on this knowledge and understand how pupils learn.
- Understand the needs of pupils you teach, including those with SEND, EAL, and be able to use effective teaching approaches to support them.
- Promote high standards of literacy and the correct use of spoken English.
- Make accurate and productive use of assessment to secure pupils' progress.
- Give pupils regular feedback and encourage them to reflect on progress, emerging needs, and to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.
- Use formative assessment to determine what students know and adapt teaching plans accordingly.
Qualifications
- Relevant Subject Degree at BA level or above.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Evidence of applying continued professional development.
- Understanding of the current curriculum discussions within your subject.
- A thorough up-to-date knowledge of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies and how to implement them effectively.
