Responsibilities
- Assist the Headteacher in key school leadership and management areas to secure and sustain excellence in teaching and learning and consistently achieve high standards in pupil outcomes.
- Establish and promote the expectations, vision and ethos of the school and Trust to enable collaboration and shared understanding.
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning and support the Headteacher in moving all staff to consistently good/outstanding teaching.
- Work with the Headteacher to ensure the school's accountability to stakeholders: parents, carers, governors and the DfE, ensuring pupils enjoy a high quality education and promote collective responsibility.
- Formulate aims and objectives and establish policies to achieve them.
- Lead strategic vision and planning, setting high expectations and monitoring and evaluating learning outcomes.
- Take a lead in improving teaching and learning, curriculum and assessment.
- Lead in a core subject area and oversee subject leaders across the curriculum.
- Provide leadership to promote high standards of attainment, behaviour and attendance.
- Support the Headteacher and governing body to meet responsibilities and liaise with external agencies.
- Plan and ensure effective systems are in place to identify, meet and review school needs.
- Provide professional leadership and management of teaching and learning throughout the school.
- Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding welfare of children and young people.
Qualifications
- Qualified teacher status.
- Evidence of sustained participation in INSET/CPD.
Desirable qualifications
- Clear preparation for a leadership position through relevant professional development such as NPQML/NPQS.
