Responsibilities

  • To work under the specific supervision, instruction and guidance of the class teacher to support the teaching and learning activities in the classroom.
  • To provide general support to the class teacher in the organisation and management of pupils and the classroom.
  • To provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, including those whose needs are met through an EHCP.
  • To assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment.
  • To promote the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills with experience of working with relevant age groups within a learning environment.
  • General clerical and administrative work experience.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to observe, monitor and provide constructive feedback on pupil progress.
  • Provide necessary personal care to children.
  • Willingness to undergo vetting appropriate to the post, including a social media presence check and Enhanced DBS check.
