We are looking for a friendly and reliable Part‑Time Cook/Baker to join the café team at the David Livingstone Centre. Set within the beautiful grounds of the Centre, the café serves museum visitors, local residents, and groups visiting the parkland.
Location: David Livingstone Centre – Café within the museum grounds
Hours: Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week, including weekends as required)
Salary: Living Wage

Role Overview: The role focuses on preparing fresh, simple café food and baked goods, helping ensure a welcoming, high‑quality food offer that enhances the visitor experience. The successful candidate will be passionate about good food, organised in the kitchen, and able to work independently in a small team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a range of simple café foods such as soups, sandwiches, light lunches, and seasonal specials
- Bake fresh items including cakes, traybakes, scones, and other sweet treats
- Support the development of a small, appealing café menu using fresh ingredients
- Prepare food for small groups, events, and occasional larger bookings
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment
- Ensure food preparation meets all food hygiene and safety standards
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering ingredients and supplies
- Minimise food waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients
- Work collaboratively with café and visitor services staff
- Help ensure the café is welcoming and well‑presented for visitors
- Assist with food preparation for events, children’s parties, or group visits
Person Specification:
- Experience in a kitchen, café, bakery, or similar food preparation role
- Ability to prepare simple meals and baked goods to a consistent standard

- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or willingness to obtain)
