Salary: £36,763.58 - £39,548.70 (Full time equivalent). (Dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience).
David Lewis is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a skilled Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our well-established Speech and Language Therapy team. David Lewis Clinical & Therapy Services provide support for people who live in residential services and students who access educational services. We are dedicated to improving the quality of lives for people with learning disabilities and/or autism, epilepsy, complex learning disorders, including neurological impairments, and other complex support needs. The people we support ages range from 11- to end of life. We have a successful track record, built up over 120 years with expertise, and are rated as GOOD by the CQC.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out assessment for individuals currently accessing the David Lewis SLT service, and potential new admissions
- Delivering interventions for individuals with diverse and complex presentations, with access to robust clinical supervision
- Completing specialist communication aid assessment and implementation
- Providing bespoke Communication Profiles, AAC protocols, advice sheets and Swallowing Care Plans (dependent on experience) to support individual communication and dysphagia needs
- Planning and delivering interventions collaboratively with the individual and their families, gathering opinions proactively and considering capacity and best interests alongside the wider MDT
- Delivering training packages to varied staff teams
- Supporting the running of therapy groups to build communication skills and knowledge across site
Qualifications
- A recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification – ESSENTIAL.
- Current Health and Care Professions Council registration – ESSENTIAL.
- Current Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) membership – ESSENTIAL.
- Evidence of regular clinical supervision and CPD development – ESSENTIAL.
- Experience in the field of Learning Disability – DESIRABLE.
- A recognised post-basic dysphagia qualification – DESIRABLE or WILLINGNESS TO WORK TOWARDS.
