We are working in partnership with a leading and highly respected Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Contractor, headquartered in the heart of London. Specialising in commercial and office fit-out projects, they deliver full M&E solutions from initial design to commissioning, with project values ranging from £50k to £4m.
Due to sustained growth and a strong order book of prestigious projects, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their established team.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a critical role in the tendering and pre-construction phase of projects. You will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical packages, collaborating closely with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure precise and commercially viable submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and competitive tenders for mechanical services ranging from £50k to £4m
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and client requirements
- Assess material, labour, and equipment costs accurately
- Identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities
- Work closely with the pre-construction, design, and project teams
- Analyse quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value
- Maintain up-to-date cost databases and historical pricing records
- Contribute to high-quality bid submissions and tender documents
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the M&E / Building Services sector
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing, public health)
- Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Capable of interpreting technical specifications and mechanical drawings
- Strong communication and time management skills
