The Role
David Kohn Architects is recruiting for Part 1 & 2 Architectural Assistants to work across a number of projects in our arts, education, and masterplanning & development sectors. We are looking for curious and enthusiastic candidates who are proactive and can contribute to our practice culture.
The Practice
David Kohn Architects was established in 2007 and has gained an international reputation for the quality of its design. We recently won RIBA House of the Year and have a number of exciting projects that are in construction, planning and at early feasibility stages. The small-scale work of the team feeds into the practice's work on major projects which currently includes a mixed-use building in Birmingham, an architecture faculty in Belgium, and a university campus in Oxford. Supporting our clients in the drive towards carbon negative futures is an important part of our current and future work.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing drawings, models for coordination and client presentations;
- Developing concept designs to tight deadlines;
- Preparing presentations and documents for meetings and submissions;
- Contribute effectively to design discussions.
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience of working through RIBA Work Stages and/or competitions;
- Experience working within a team and independently;
- Understanding of planning, building regulations, and technical requirements.
While not a prerequisite, having an interest in the work and ethos of David Kohn Architects as a design-led practice is highly desirable.
Skills
- Excellent design skills;
- Excellent drafting and visualisation skills;
- Proficient in Revit and/or Vectorworks, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office;
- Excellent physical model making abilities.
