We are looking for a Senior IT Support Technician to join our in-house IT team. This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day delivery of IT services across the firm while also contributing to infrastructure improvements and ongoing projects. You will work closely with the IT Manager to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and fit for purpose, while providing a high standard of support to staff across all departments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining user support, infrastructure work, and project involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- User Support & Service Delivery
- Provide first and second line support across hardware, software, and core business systems
- Support Remote Desktop and VPN access for remote users
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently, taking ownership through to resolution
- Maintain clear documentation and contribute to user guides where needed
- Infrastructure & Systems
- Assist with the management of servers, virtual machines, storage, and backups
- Carry out routine maintenance, patching, and system checks
- Support the diagnosis and resolution of system issues and outages
- Security & Compliance
- Apply and maintain IT security best practices
- Support patching, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection
- Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory and security standards
- Projects & Improvements
- Support delivery of IT projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new systems
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, reliability, and user experience
- Assist with testing, rollout, and user adoption of new technologies
- Work with third-party providers to resolve issues and deliver services
- Ensure incidents and requests are followed through and communicated clearly
- Equipment & Office Support
- Maintain office IT equipment including laptops, desktops, printers, and meeting room technology
- Support new starters and leavers with device setup and access
- Assist with occasional hardware logistics and replacements
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, approachable, and comfortable working across both support and infrastructure. You should be confident managing your own workload and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical users. You’ll ideally have experience with:
- Supporting Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and VPN access
- Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune and Entra ID
- Virtualised environments (VMware or Hyper-V)
- Windows Server administration, including Active Directory and Group Policy
- Troubleshooting networking issues (DNS, DHCP, connectivity)
- Applying security best practices, including patching and vulnerability management
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- End-user device deployment and support
- Working with external IT providers or managed service partners
Experience within a professional services environment (such as legal services) would be beneficial but not essential.
A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between office locations or to third-party sites when required.
