About the role
We're seeking a Production Executive to join our Production and Operations team.
Working alongside the Production Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality books to readers around the world.
This role has a particular focus on managing our reprint programme, ensuring titles remain available through the most efficient and cost-effective print solutions.
You'll work closely with UK and international print partners, explore opportunities for digital and local printing, and help us continually improve our production processes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the production of book reprints from quotation through to placement and delivery.
- Obtain and evaluate print quotations to balance cost, quality, and lead time decisions.
- Develop and manage relationships with digital print suppliers in the UK and internationally, identifying opportunities for local print-on-demand and short-run production.
- Contribute to print specification decisions.
- Coordinate the freight of books to UK and international distribution partners.
- Raise purchase orders, prepare production costings and manage print approvals.
- Liaise with Editorial, Design, Pre-Press, Sales and Finance teams to coordinate reprints, corrections and file updates.
- Maintain accurate production records within our publishing management system.
- Coordinate the implementation of errata, file revisions, and updated editions.
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve quality, service and cost efficiency.
- Support the evaluation and selection of new print and freight suppliers as our supply chain continues to evolve.
About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware, and enjoys managing multiple projects simultaneously.
You will ideally have some book or similar print production experience and a good understanding of all print processes.
You should have excellent attention to detail, numerical skills and be a good communicator and team player.
Experience of a publishing management system, such as Biblio, would be an advantage.
This role will be required to spend some time in the Exeter office, including during the initial training period.
