The UVM Front-End Developer 1 is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing front-end components to ensure responsive designs that adapt seamlessly across all devices. This role collaborates with designers, product managers, and back-end developers to deliver high quality products, write clean code, and resolve cross-browser and cross-platform issues.
Additionally, the role will contribute to improving development processes, participate in code review, and assist with testing and quality assurance processes. This position works in an office environment.
Working Conditions: Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions in regular or hybrid office setting. Any remote/hybrid work arrangements must be approved by Davey. Noise level and environmental changes in the work environment. Perform in the presence of distractions and interruptions. Exposure to customer complaints. Multi-tasking and task changes. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize front-end components and features using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Develop and implement responsive designs that adapt to various screen sizes and devices for optimal user experience across all platforms.
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code, that adheres to best practices and follows internal DRG code guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cross-browser and cross-platform issues for consistent functionality and performance across environments.
- Assist in testing and quality assurance processes of front-end applications.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, adherence to best practices, and alignment with project requirements while fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers to deliver innovative, high-quality products that meet both user needs and business goals.
- Collaborate with software development team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Continuously research and update knowledge of the latest technologies, trends, and best practices to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
- Provide collaborative solutions for clients, ensuring a customer-centric approach and successful implementation of software products.
- Participate in technical discussions to contribute insights, evaluate solutions, and collaborate on decisions that drive project success and innovation.
- Contribute to the improvement of development processes.

Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Required: Successfully complete on-the-job training for DRG UVM-specific technologies and systems.
- Required: Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
- Required: Familiarity with responsive design principles.
- Required: Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Required: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
- Required: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Required: Passion for creating great user experiences.
- Required: Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Preferred: One or more years of experience in front-end development, including internship experience.
- Preferred: Basic understanding of JavaScript frameworks/libraries (React, Angular, Vue.js). Angular is preferred.
- Preferred: Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress). Jest is a plus.
- Preferred: Experience with version control systems (Git).
- Preferred: Awareness of security best practices (authentication, authorization, data encryption).
- Preferred: Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts and their application.
