Full job description HGV Class 2 Trade Waste Driver Location: Widnes Pay: £14.47 per hour Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Start Time: Between 03:00 and 04:00 Overtime: £18.09 per hour after 40 hours, including weekend overtime opportunities Paid Breaks: Yes About the Role We are looking for a reliable and experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our busy Widnes depot. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently collecting and transporting commercial and industrial waste using a modern HGV fleet. This is a stable, full-time position offering consistent Monday to Friday shifts, a paid break and the opportunity to increase your earnings through overtime. Key Responsibilities Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles for commercial and industrial waste collections Collect and transport waste safely and efficiently Plan and follow efficient routes to maximise productivity Provide excellent customer service at customer sites Ensure collection areas are left clean and tidy Ensure bins and containers are correctly positioned Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly Comply with waste duty of care requirements Follow drivers’ hours, tachograph and road safety regulations Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers Carry out manual handling tasks when required Requirements * Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence * Valid Driver CPC * Valid Digital Tachograph card * Previous experience within the waste sector is preferred * Good understanding of waste hierarchy and environmental compliance * Strong knowledge of local roads and routes around the Widnes area * Excellent customer service and communication skills * Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual handling tasks * Reliable, punctual and safety-focused * Professional approach to work Pay and Benefits * £14.47 per hour * Guaranteed 40-hour working week * £18.09 per hour overtime rate after 40 hours * Monday to Friday working * Start times between 03:00 and 04:00 * Paid breaks * Weekend overtime opportunities * 8p performance bonus per bin collected each day after full training * Daily timing bonus based on performance targets: £10, £14 or £18 per day * Full PPE and uniform provided * Ongoing training and development * Career progression opportunities * Modern, well-maintained HGV fleet * Advanced vehicle safety features The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a safety-focused Class 2 Driver who takes pride in vehicle presentation, customer service and completing collections to a high standard.
