We are looking to support our client – a civil/structural consultancy firm – with a requirement for a Structural Engineer / Technician. This will be a permanent staff role to start as soon as reasonably possible on a full‑time basis, located in an office based in Warrington. Within reason home working will be possible, but a good balance between office based and home work will be expected as well as regular travel for site visits and site meetings – within the local area and further afield on occasion.
Salary figures will be negotiable to the candidate’s suitability and prior level of experience. Packages will include a 36‑hour week, 22 holiday days a year, expenses, pension, sick pay, bonus scheme and flexible working. This role would suit a structural candidate with around 3 years’ experience looking to work in a supportive environment for a busy company with multiple ongoing projects and offering lots of opportunities for progression into other areas, senior roles, and even project management.
Projects will vary across different sectors but will all relate to erection of industrial units and buildings from initial site assessments and design through to construction. Candidates should know the essentials of how to put a building together and have good prior site experience. They need to be able to hold their own in front of a client and have the desire to take in more responsibilities ultimately leading to running small projects independently – with project lifespans around 6–12 months.
The successful candidate should possess basic CAD skills as a minimum and have some familiarity with AutoCAD, and ideally other packages used within the building sector (BIM or others). They will work with the company’s team lead to produce design packages, will be taught how to use a structural design package to design and schedule foundations themselves, and once a job is on site will deal with site queries, attend sites as required and eventually take the lead in managing the jobs on site.
Applicants must possess existing eligibility to work in the country via residency or current work permit.
