We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a well-established UK manufacturing business based in Widnes. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong multi-discipline skills, ideally with an electrical background, who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment. The Role
As a Site Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and site services. You will be responsible for ensuring machinery runs efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment
- Responding quickly to breakdowns and carrying out fault diagnosis and repair
- Supporting installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
- Working across electrical and mechanical systems
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Site Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar role
- Multi-skilled engineering background (electrical bias preferred)
- Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good understanding of health and safety standards
- A proactive and reliable approach to maintenance and problem solving
Desirable (but not essential)
- Electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Experience working with production machinery or manufacturing lines
- PLC fault-finding experience
- Knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing principles
