The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Structural Engineer to support a leading engineering organisation delivering projects within the offshore oil and gas sector.
This role will focus on the structural analysis, assessment and design of offshore equipment and structures, with a particular emphasis on advanced simulation and finite element analysis using ANSYS. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for delivering technically challenging projects from concept through to detailed design and execution.
This is an initial 6-month contract, offering the opportunity to work on complex offshore engineering projects, with a strong likelihood of contract extension.
The assignment is offered Outside IR35, making it suitable for Limited Company contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and engineering calculations for offshore structures and equipment.
- Develop and execute finite element analysis (FEA) models using ANSYS.
- Conduct assessments relating to strength, fatigue, buckling, lifting, transportation and installation load cases.
- Prepare and review engineering reports, technical specifications and design documentation.
- Support concept, FEED and detailed design activities.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mechanical, structural and project engineering disciplines.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes and client specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZIDs and technical meetings as required.
- Provide technical support throughout project execution and delivery.
Essential Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in structural engineering.
- Advanced experience using ANSYS for finite element and structural analysis.
- Previous experience within the offshore oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of offshore design methodologies and structural behaviour under complex loading conditions.
- Experience producing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a project team environment.
Desirable Experience
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
- Experience in offshore structures, topsides, jackets, subsea equipment, lifting structures or transportation analyses.
- Familiarity with API, DNV, Eurocodes and offshore engineering standards.
- Experience supporting fabrication, installation or offshore operations.
