We are looking for a Mechanical Design / Process Design Engineer to join a growing Projects & Design Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to play a key role in delivering cutting-edge energy projects, including Combined Heat and Power (CHP), Tri Generation and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You’ll be part of a collaborative and technically strong environment, where your expertise will directly contribute to innovative solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs and support the transition to net zero.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the mechanical design aspects of energy projects from concept through to commissioning and operation.
- Produce detailed engineering documentation, including specifications, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Develop functional and technical design documents.
- Perform pipe and pump sizing calculations.
- Carry out safety assessments and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Coordinate CAD design activities to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Work closely with project managers, suppliers and internal teams.
- Support cost-effective project delivery and assist with budgeting.
- Manage supplier performance in line with project quality plans.
- Provide technical support on-site, including layout surveys and troubleshooting.
What We’re Looking For
- Solid experience as a Mechanical Engineer within power generation or similar sectors.
- Strong knowledge of pipework and ventilation design, CDM regulations and health & safety standards.
- At least five years’ experience in technical management and energy project development.
- Experience using AutoCAD 3D (or similar) and Microsoft Office.
- HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- A full UK driving licence.
