Purpose Of The Role
The Technical Sales & Compliance Lead will provide technical expertise and support across Datim’s range of fire-rated and non-fire timber doorsets. The role will ensure that all designs, specifications, and manufacturing documentation comply with relevant standards, certification requirements, and customer specifications. The successful candidate will act as a key link between design, production, compliance, and project delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical & Design Support
- Prepare and review technical drawings, schedules, and manufacturing details for standard and bespoke timber doorsets.
- Advise on construction methods, materials, and performance characteristics.
- Support the estimating and sales teams with technical input and sales support ensuring estimating alignment during the quotation stage, and carry out contract reviews to ensure compliance.
- Assist clients, architects, and contractors with specification guidance and compliance queries.
- Compliance & Certification
- Ensure all doorsets are designed and manufactured in accordance with BS 476, BS EN 1634, and Building Regulations (Approved Document B).
- Review and interpret FOA’s, fire test reports, assessments, and certification data.
- Maintain and manage the company’s technical documentation library (test evidence, DoPs, assessments, datasheets).
- Liaise with third-party certification bodies such as BM TRADA and Warringtonfire to support ongoing and future product approvals.
- Support internal and external audits relating to third-party certification.
- Production & Quality Support
- Provide technical drawings and cutting lists to production, ensuring accuracy and compliance with test evidence.
- Advise manufacturing teams on technical construction details, tolerances, and hardware integration.
- Support factory quality control inspections to ensure conformity with certified specifications.
- Assist with resolving any technical non-conformances or production issues.
- Project & Client Interface
- Prepare technical submittals, performance declarations, and compliance packs for projects, such as a BSR Submission Pack for the Building Safety Regulator Gateway 2 Submissions.
- Dedicated BSR leadership role to ensure that the BSR Submissions are presented correctly and on time.
- Attend coordination or design meetings as required to represent the technical team.
- Provide on-site technical support where required for installation, inspection, or remedial queries.
- Research & Development
- Contribute to product improvement initiatives and development of new tested designs.
- Support test planning, specimen design, and post-test evaluations in collaboration with fire testing laboratories.
- Coordinate fire and security testing programs and ensure all test data and reports are accurately recorded and incorporated into compliance documentation.
- Contribute to R&D Submissions for HMRC with regular internal updates.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong understanding of timber fire doorsets, construction, and performance characteristics.
- Experience working with BS 476-22, BS EN 1634-1, and Building Regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, fire assessments, and certification documents.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving approach.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a third-party certified fire door manufacturer.
- Familiarity with IFC, BM TRADA, or Warringtonfire certification schemes.
- Understanding of ironmongery integration and compatibility with fire doorsets.
- Knowledge of Q-Mark, CE/UKCA marking, or DoP documentation.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
