We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join a major mission-critical data centre project in Slough as an MCE Coordinator (Main Capital Equipment). This is a client-facing role, critical to the successful installation, coordination, and commissioning of free-issued Main Capital Equipment across the project.
The successful candidate will work closely with the client and their supply chain, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery of complex M&E assets on site.
Key Responsibilities- Client & Supply Chain Coordination
- Act as a key interface between the client, main contractor, and specialist supply chain.
- Oversee and coordinate the client’s supply chain workforce on site.
- Maintain strong working relationships to support programme certainty and quality delivery.
- Site Inspections & Quality Control
- Utilise Field View to carry out: Delivery inspections, Installation inspections (snagging), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Ensure installations align with specifications, drawings, and project standards.
- Commissioning Support
- Assist with commissioning activities for Main Capital Equipment.
- Support readiness reviews and interface with commissioning teams.
- Planning & Resource Management
- Review and plan LOR lift & shift labour resources.
- Capture labour requirements within the Select Labour Schedule.
- Shadow and report tasks to the Senior MCE Coordinator.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Take responsibility for daily H&S management of the client’s supply chain.
- Set contractors to work and monitor ongoing H&S compliance.
- Attend and contribute to Daily Activity Briefings (DABs).
- Collect and review weekly Friday Packs (H&S documentation).
- Participate in: SML (Safe Method Launch), CI (Collective Insight), PvA (Plan vs Actual), Inclusion & Wellbeing (I&W) activities.
The role will involve managing, coordinating, and supporting the installation and commissioning of equipment including, but not limited to: MV Generators, MV & LV Main Switchgear (MVTB, TX, PB, UPS, STS), Prefabricated Switch Rooms, Prefabricated Packaged Plant Rooms (PPR & PCR), Cooling Towers, CRAH & CRAY Cooling Plant, RPP Panel Boards, Air Scrubbers.
Candidate Requirements- Background as a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.
- Proven data centre experience (mission-critical environments essential).
- Strong understanding of M&E installation, interfaces, and commissioning.
- Experience working in client-facing roles on complex construction projects.
- Confident coordinating multiple contractors and supply chain partners.
- Strong working knowledge of H&S processes in live construction environments.
- Comfortable using digital inspection and reporting tools (e.g. Field View).
