A leading international mechanical contractor specialising in mission critical and technically complex projects is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join its growing London operation. The business delivers high-value data centre, life sciences and industrial projects across the UK and Europe, with strong expertise in mechanical installations, HVAC, piping, prefabrication and BIM-led delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator looking to work on major hyperscale and mission critical developments in a fast-growing sector.
The Role
You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive mechanical estimates for large-scale data centre projects across pre-construction and tender stages. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed mechanical cost estimates and tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Producing take-offs for HVAC, pipework, public health and associated mechanical packages
- Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Working closely with project managers, design teams and commercial teams
- Identifying value engineering opportunities and commercial risks
- Supporting bid strategy and client presentations where required
- Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Assisting with budgeting and cost planning throughout project development
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within MEP, building services or mission critical construction
- Previous exposure to data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial or large commercial projects preferred
- Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical pipework and building services systems
- Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant mechanical or building services qualification advantageous
