A leading engineering group are seeking a Commissioning Director to lead commissioning strategy and delivery across major projects throughout the UK and Europe. This is a senior leadership role, not a site-based commissioning position. You will shape how commissioning is planned, integrated, governed, and executed across multiple complex projects, ensuring operational readiness is achieved without compromising programme, safety, or quality.

- Define and implement commissioning strategy from pre-construction through to final handover.
- Provide executive oversight across multiple live projects in Europe.
- Align commissioning with construction sequencing, commercial milestones, and client expectations.
- Lead and mentor Commissioning Managers and project teams.
- Establish governance, reporting standards, and QA/QC frameworks.
- Oversee energisation planning, system integration, and performance validation.
- Engage directly with clients and senior stakeholders to protect programme and operational outcomes.
- Identify and mitigate technical and sequencing risks before they impact delivery.
This position requires someone who can operate at both strategic and technical levels, equally comfortable in board-level discussions and detailed system reviews.
The Profile
- Extensive commissioning leadership experience.
- Strong background in complex MEP, power infrastructure, energy, or mission-critical environments.
- Proven experience delivering projects across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Deep understanding of programme risk, energisation sequencing and integrated systems testing.
- Commercially aware with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Willing to travel across European project locations.
