About the Role:
We’re looking for a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert to join a leading data centre operator’s design team. You’ll provide technical oversight and expertise across mechanical infrastructure, ensuring systems are designed, delivered, and operated to the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and energy efficiency. You’ll work closely with internal teams, external consultants, vendors, and contractors to review designs, optimize existing systems, and introduce innovative cooling solutions. This is a hands-on role with exposure to high-profile projects and opportunities to influence design standards and operational practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead for all mechanical systems in data centre design and operations.
- Review and validate mechanical designs from external partners.
- Monitor and optimize mechanical systems across existing facilities.
- Lead initiatives for energy efficiency, redundancy, and scalability improvements.
- Research and recommend new technologies and approaches.
- Support commissioning, operations, and client-facing technical workshops.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng) or related field.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent preferred.
- 10+ years’ mechanical engineering experience, with at least 5 in data centres or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Experience with hyperscale or multi-site data centre portfolios.
- Knowledge of innovative cooling strategies and energy efficiency best practices.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with SCADA, BMS, and DCIM systems is a plus.
